Airplane Paintings

A couple weeks ago, Jane and I were accepted into an International Paint the Town Competition in Downtown Saint Petersburg Fl. Hodges Soileau was also there in attendance. I found the composition of the airport very abstract and out of the ordinary, so I painted it. The little black one got an Honorable Mention. So I'm happy about that.... enjoy.

Your Invited to My Polo Show!

I have been invited by the Polo Grill in Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, to exhibit my Polo work. They are mostly paintings that range from 4 inches to 6 feet. Mediums include acrylic, latex, and oil. The show is May 5th, at 5pm. I know this will be a crazy week due to the Senior Illustration Show and Best of Ringling but I'm just trying to go out with a bang. I hope you can make it to the show!

Old American Paintings

I drove up to West Virginia for two days last week to see my brother perform in GUYS AND DOLLS. While there, my dad brought up some old American paintings that I grew up. Its amazing to me that I was fortunate enough to be raised in a house filled with American antiques such as furniture, paintings, and firearms. Most people don't ever think about this but anything American made before the revolution was highly illegal. Sorry for the bad photos but these were taken in my brother's conference room after an hour of sifting through the warehouse. One painting in particular is a real Andrew Jackson painting that my father has had for years. I love the paint application and the apparent quality of time put in to the canvases. Early American paintings have a quality in them that is not in many paintings today.

more on this later...hope you enjoy!
