Old American Paintings
I drove up to West Virginia for two days last week to see my brother perform in GUYS AND DOLLS. While there, my dad brought up some old American paintings that I grew up. Its amazing to me that I was fortunate enough to be raised in a house filled with American antiques such as furniture, paintings, and firearms. Most people don't ever think about this but anything American made before the revolution was highly illegal. Sorry for the bad photos but these were taken in my brother's conference room after an hour of sifting through the warehouse. One painting in particular is a real Andrew Jackson painting that my father has had for years. I love the paint application and the apparent quality of time put in to the canvases. Early American paintings have a quality in them that is not in many paintings today.
more on this later...hope you enjoy!
